Jason Jeffrey “Jay” Crater was more than just a talented athlete—he was a son, a brother, a teammate, and a friend whose kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Born in Paoli, Pennsylvania, Jay grew up in Royersford, where he developed a deep love for baseball. Whether behind the plate or on the field, Jay played with heart, determination, and an unwavering commitment to his team. His passion for the game was matched only by his dedication to those around him—always uplifting others, always putting people first.

At just 17 years old, Jay had already built a reputation for his strong work ethic, leadership, and selflessness. He excelled in his work, athletics, and hobbies, but above all, he was known for his kind and giving spirit. Jay’s ability to bring people together and make them feel valued was a gift that extended far beyond the baseball field.

Tragically, Jay’s life was cut short on January 7, 2025, but his legacy continues in profound ways. In his final act of selflessness, Jay became an organ donor, giving the Gift of Life to others in need. His impact lives on—not only in the lives he saved but in the hearts of those who loved him.

To honor his incredible spirit, Jay's mother, Crystal, founded Angel Behind The Plate: The Jay Crater Legacy Foundation. Through this foundation, we continue Jay’s mission of helping young athletes, spreading kindness, and advocating for organ donation awareness.

Jay lived with purpose, passion, and love—and through this foundation, his legacy will inspire generations to do the same. 💙⚾🌱

In loving memory of Jay Crater, our mission is to honor his legacy of selflessness, kindness, and generosity by giving back to the community that helped shape him. We are committed to supporting young athletes, particularly in baseball, by providing opportunities for growth, mentorship, and empowerment on and off the field. 

Through acts of kindness, donations, and community engagement, we aim to inspire the next generation to live with purpose and integrity, just as Jay did. 

In addition, we honor his final act of selflessness as an organ donor, celebrating his gift of life that continues to impact others in profound ways. 

By continuing Jay’s legacy of love, hope, and heroism, we strive to make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve.

• Provide scholarships and financial assistance to young baseball players.
• Offer mentorship and leadership programs to help athletes grow both on and off the field.
• Support youth leagues, teams, and facilities to ensure all kids have access to the game Jay loved.

• Encourage young athletes to give back through volunteer work and community service.
• Organize fundraisers, charity events, and outreach programs that reflect Jay’s generosity.
• Promote a culture of respect, sportsmanship, and leadership in youth athletics.

• Educate communities about the importance of organ donation and its life-saving impact.
• Share Jay’s story to inspire others to say YES to the Gift of Life.
• Partner with organ donation organizations to increase awareness and registrations.
